A very special guest visits PS 34 from Poland
Agata Kornhauser-Duda, wife of the President of the Republic of Poland Visits PS 34
On Thursday, May 17, the PS 34 hosted a very special guest Agata Kornhauser-Duda, wife of the President of the Republic of Poland. During an almost two-hour visit to PS 34 , she met with the administration, teachers and parents of children attending bilingual Polish-English classes. She also took part in the classes conducted as part of the Polish Dual Language Program. She visited the children learning in the Dual Language kindergarten and first grade classes.
The first lady, who herself is a teacher with several years of experience, not only talked to children, but also read to them from a book by Janina Papuzinska entitled "My Mother a Sorceress." During the visit, Agata Kornhauser-Duda had the opportunity to learn about the curriculum and the dual languange education program at PS 34.
The first lady was very impressed with the dual language program and the knowledge of students participating in this program as well as the commitment of the parents and teachers to bilingual education. She expressed this in an entry in school’s special guests sign in book, which is almost 70 years old.
"With heartfelt thanks to the Directorate, Teachers and Parents for their involvement in the introduction of the Polish bilingual program at PS 34 and good luck in its implementation" - wrote Agata Kornhauser-Duda, who is the most important person representing the Polish government who has visited our school.
